Intern Self Assessment: Objective 2

2. I will use my knowledge about collection development to order books and technology resources for the biography section of the collection. (FEAP 8, 10, 12)

The objective was satisfactorily met . . .

Today I ordered books for the biography section of the collection. The 18 books that I found when I completed Objective 1 were ordered. With the county's use of a procurement credit card, it was so easy -- Much like ordering books online for personal use!

I believe that when I am actually in the library as a media specialist, ordering resources will be much more multi-faceted, and I will be able to order resources through preview methods, direct consultation and sales meetings with book distributors, etc. I think I ordered resources using the most direct and simple method; however, I look forward to exploring other methods of ordering books and other resources.

We have come a long way in the ordering process. With the advent of the Internet, we have finally stopped doing order cards. Courtney did a great job assessing the collection, choosing biographies, and then ordering them.
